# gizdb

The database: SQL, typed models, transactions, vectors and the PostgreSQL-protocol server. Import a module by name, for example `import * as Store from "gizdb:store";`. Each page lists the module's public declarations exactly as an installed toolchain provides them.

| Module | Purpose |
| --- | --- |
| [gizdb:access](/docs/reference/gizdb/access) | The native application boundary of db/server's existing actor. |
| [gizdb:core/analyzer](/docs/reference/gizdb/core/analyzer) | Text analysis: the tokens of a text for the inverted index and for queries. |
| [gizdb:core/vector](/docs/reference/gizdb/core/vector) | Nearest-neighbour search over a vector column: a HNSW graph per segment (Malkov and Yashunin; the layout of hnswlib and USearch: a flat neighbour array for layer 0, the few upper-layer nodes in their own arrays), and an exact scan where it is cheaper or the filter is selective. |
| [gizdb:data](/docs/reference/gizdb/data) | A stored application's typed records, by their Model.Shape: on a GizDB engine this process serves, or on a SQL store. |
| [gizdb:decimal](/docs/reference/gizdb/decimal) | Exact decimals, as PostgreSQL's NUMERIC: a value is C × 10^-s with a scale s of 0..16383 and at most 131072 digits before the point. |
| [gizdb:error](/docs/reference/gizdb/error) | Typed failures shared by database owners; protocol spelling lives in sql/errors.giz. |
| [gizdb:gate](/docs/reference/gizdb/gate) | who may read and write which rows of a Shape. |
| [gizdb](/docs/reference/gizdb/main) | gizdb, the embedded GizDB: open a database in a folder, run SQL in a session and read its values. |
| [gizdb:model](/docs/reference/gizdb/model) | a record type's meaning as a value (a Shape), and what is derived from it besides HTML: typed input validation, SQL wire rows, DDL for SQLite and PostgreSQL, additive migration, JSON and agent tool schemas. |
| [gizdb:policy](/docs/reference/gizdb/policy) | The DAL's Policy (GIZSTACK-PLATFORM §3 item 5). |
| [gizdb:query](/docs/reference/gizdb/query) | A stored table that follows a record type. |
| [gizdb:relay](/docs/reference/gizdb/relay) | realtime as a position in a log the database keeps. |
| [gizdb:schema](/docs/reference/gizdb/schema) | One pure schema planner. |
| [gizdb:semantic](/docs/reference/gizdb/semantic) | Analytical meaning is metadata attached to stable declarations. |
| [gizdb:server/server](/docs/reference/gizdb/server/server) | The authoritative DB actor: one Ready loop owns Engine publication, durability, recovery, checkpoint work and the PostgreSQL, Kafka and RESP transports. |
| [gizdb:source](/docs/reference/gizdb/source) | One typed data-source contract. |
| [gizdb:sql/types/dialect](/docs/reference/gizdb/sql/types/dialect) | A SQL dialect as a value: its name and the rules where the engines it imitates differ in meaning, not spelling. |
| [gizdb:store](/docs/reference/gizdb/store) | the database a web app keeps its records in, one call shape over three engines. |
| [gizdb:typed](/docs/reference/gizdb/typed) | Typed data contracts: Slot, Codec, the codecs, logical Contract and the exact JSON transport of a Value. |
| [gizdb:value](/docs/reference/gizdb/value) | Values, types and schemas, and their one binary encoding (used by the log and by segment files alike). |
